Why is it so hard for women to find what they want to wear? Because there are so many choices! And with the boom in the plus size fashion industry, plus size girls don’t need to worry about not having enough choice. In fact, there’s almost too much of it. (We kid, of course. There could never be too much choice!) Since fall has already walked through the door, a lot of companies are bringing out their fall lines. This is no less true for Nordstrom. Their Fall 2012 collection is focusing on blouses; and a girl can never have enough of those. StylishDressing has noticed a fashion trend in this collection: feminine blouses. It’s very heavy with sheer fabrics, prints, and patterns – as well as oversize shirts. Perfect for the rapidly cooling weather, these pieces will also work once it warms up again. We’ve chosen a few of our favourite pieces from each category. Enjoy!

Another one of Bloomingdale’s designated Fall 2012 trends is leather. A material as controversial as fur, it nonetheless is a big part of fashion. Whereas fur denotes glamour and luxury, leather is reminiscent of a laidback attitude. Once again, there is a split between real and fake leather here, but for the most part the pieces here are made from real leather. This may be due to the fact that pleather is not a very breathable fabric, particularly when it comes to pants and leggings. Thankfully, there are a lot of choices as to how to wear your leather. Go for a fitted jacket to shape your curves, or try a pair of leather pants to bring out your punk side. MORE IMAGES →
Plus size fashion has come a long way through the years. Where once plus size women were relegated to wearing unflattering baggy clothes, now they have a myriad of choices, most of which work with their curves—not against them. There’s no greater testament to this than Monif C’s plus size fall 2012 collection. The dresses in this series are absolutely stunning. What’s more, there is versatility to them—work or play, these dresses will make you into a plus size diva!
Stylish Dressing has lately become a big fan of ruching. The optical illusion it creates helps to hide any of those bothersome bumps and creases underneath. Monif C has also seen the benefit of this kind of fabric design and what’s more, they’ve created a convertible dress which according to them can tie in 22 different ways (so far). That is essentially 22 different dresses in one! And they come in various colors, too: MORE IMAGES →

Ruched clothing has been around for a long time. The techniques of ruching have been said to have started since the middle Ages. We take a look at some inspirational pieces of the latest ruched clothing while delving deeper into the things to keep in mind when choosing one for yourself.
So, why ruching is still here? Foremost, the gathered folds of fabric compliment almost any body type there is. The busy details can either cover or accentuate any body part you want depending on how you bring it to play.
Today, we will be talking about the right ruching in different types of clothes. We have to admit that not all types of ruching can be flattering to everyone; because with ruching you have to know how to pull it off just right.
For ruched clothing on plus-sized women, you have to be particular as to where the ruching is and how much of it there is. Too much of it can honestly be overwhelming to the eyes but too little might not even be noticeable and worse, it might even look like terribly wrinkled clothing when worn.
This Betsy Ruched Dress from Kiyonna is a perfect example of ruched clothing with taste; it’s perfect for plus-sized women. The garment appears to be tight and body hugging but in a sexy, appealing way. The details from the mid to the bottom half of the dress compliments women with a V-body shape as it balances out the whole figure. MORE IMAGES →
Color Blocking as a plus size fashion trend is on the rise this spring. It helps the plus size woman accentuate her curves. Lets take a look at the latest color block dresses.
Color blocking used to be about solid colored clothes being put together. However, it has evolved to become more about the combination of solid colors as is. Plus Size women have welcomed this fashion trend for 2012 with open arms.
Here are some of the highlights for the Plus Size Fashion Trend For 2012: Color Blocking. MORE IMAGES →
Lace has always been one of the most feminine and flattering materials. For many it brings to mind a time gone by with a vintage feel, while others will remember those times back in the 1980s when black lace paired wonderfully with denim and spikes and neon and any other completely off the wall fabric. Plus size women often shy away from eye catching fabrics but lace does not need to be one of those.
If you feel uncomfortable in lace outfits, there are great ways to accessorize. Here’s a fantastic pair of cream canvas and lace pumps that elegantly flow between the two fabrics. MORE IMAGES →
Spring is all about rebirth and new life. It’s the season where icicles are melting and flowers begin to bloom. In the natural world, bears, chipmunks and other animals wake up from their long deep slumber to begin another journey. Likened to our furry (and in other cases, scaly) friends, in the fashion world we too must wake up from our winter nights by shedding our extra skin: coats, scarves, bonnets and our favorite boots.
This season, it’s all about statement pieces and bold outfits. Prints and color blocking are, very much, still in. As for accessories, hats and eye-catchy jewelry give your outfit that boost that you want for the look you’re going for.
So how should one dress this spring? Here are a few breakout trends for Spring 2012: MORE IMAGES →
StylishDressing.com was initially envisioned as a fashion imagery hub from where women of all shapes and sizes could derive inspiration. However, our team noticed that plus sized women were a hugely under represented group in the fashion industry. StylishDressing.com then repositioned itself as a ‘Curated Plus Size Fashion Inspiration’ blog. We believe that beauty does not come in any particular size or shape and believe that all designers should start to feature more plus size models. No, we are NOT against women of any size-we are only advocating a larger representation for plus size women in the fashion world.
We do not claim to be industry experts – those are the plus size magazines and plus fashion bloggers. We thank each one of them for the excellent job they are doing to bring plus size into mainstream fashion. We also thank all those gorgeous plus size models, hair and make-up artistes, photographers and stylists who were kind enough to grant us publishing rights.
But yes, we are experts at scouring the web and delivering the best images and insights on the latest trends in plus size fashion. StylishDressing.com has tie-ups with leading plus size designers, stylists, fashion photographers, models, bloggers and industry experts. This allows us to excel at what we do – inspiring you!
